Elder Call

I dropped my brother off at the Missionary Training Center yesterday. It was such a wonderful experience. Even though he is my younger brother, I have always looked up to him. He is serving in the Idaho Pocatello Mission and will be a wonderful missionary. I am so proud of him! The MTC was such a great place. Everyone was so friendly and welcomed Bob like a long-lost friend. While it was hard to say goodbye, I am so excited for him and glad that he has made decisions in life that have enabled him to serve the Lord. You can follow his mission at the blog my dad set up for him: Elder Robert M. Call.

That's neat you took Bob to the MTC. Bruce was my escort. It really meant a lot to me to have him there. He was so matter-of-fact at the parting point that it made it ALMOST impossible for me to cry. It went something like: "Ok Denalee. Time to go. Have a good mission" (pat on back) I stole a hug before walking through the doors though :) Still remember it well - I'm sure Bob will remember his experience with you forever! Way back then (for me) we went to the BYU devotionals. Bruce would always meet me at a certain spot and without fail, he'd have some kind of treats for me. Good times.

What good memories! Uncle Bruce is great! Yeah, Bob tried to be strong. Of course, I was crying but he said "If you don't get out of here now I'M gonna cry." So I told him to "Be good," (I couldn't help it, I'm his big sister :) ) and left.

We're so glad you were able to take Bob to the MTC. Aunt Denalee actually took me to the MTC. . .almost 30 years ago! I just remember that she was crying a lot and I couldn't figure out why. . .I guess I was kind of slow and dumb back then, too. :-)

You couldn't figure out why she was crying? That's the funniest thing ever! I can totally picture it...
